The character
Shipyard sits in the middle of Hilton Head — a gated resort community a short reach from Coligny Beach and the island's busiest stretch of shops and restaurants. It's organized around two things it does very well: the 27-hole Shipyard Golf Club, whose three interchangeable nines are the Brigantine, Clipper, and Galleon, and the Van der Meer Tennis Center, a nationally known teaching academy that has drawn players and coaches to the island for decades.
What sets Shipyard apart from the island's oceanfront estates is its density and its makeup. Villas and condominiums dominate, threaded with single-family homes, and the Shipyard Beach Club gives owners their own gateway to the Atlantic even where the homes themselves sit back from the sand. Large resort hotels — the Marriott Grande Ocean and the Sonesta Resort among them — sit within and alongside the gates, which keeps the community lively year-round. That villa-heavy, amenity-rich mix is exactly what makes a certified, move-in-ready home here so easy to read: lock-and-leave by design, ready the day you arrive.

Home styles
Weighted toward lock-and-leave villas and condominiums, with single-family homes mixed in — coastal-contemporary and Lowcountry styles, many set on golf, lagoon, or garden homesites rather than directly oceanfront.
